Dear Families, 

Cold Weather
This week is expected to be very cold with wind chill temperatures as low as –42C at night. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately. The CBE is planning for all schools to be open during the cold snap. If for any reason we are closed you will be contacted via email. For more information, please see the CBE’s cold weather statement at: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/cold-weather-reminders.aspx  

We do respect every family’s right to make decisions about attendance in these special circumstances and if your child will not be attending, please call the attendance line at 403-777-8800 ext. 1  

Kindergarten Registration 
As we move through January, we also move into Kindergarten Registration time. Kindergarten registration for August 2020 begins on January 20th, 2020 at 8:30AM.
One big change for Kindergarten this coming August is a modification of the Kindergarten stating age. For the 2020-2021 school year, a child may register if they are 5 years old as of December 31, 2020. Previously, the cut-off was February 28th, however Alberta Education has changed this to December 31st.

Learning Conversations Cancelled

March 12 th , 2020 Dear Parents & Guardians, Based on the changing provincial and local response to COVID-19, the CBE has given us direction to postpone our Learning Conversations (Student-Parent-Teacher conferences) scheduled for March 19 th , 2020 . In addition, ALL after school programs including Philkids, Reading & Running, YMCA, Teen Mentors and Mosiac club will be cancelled until further notice . All CBE schools have been given direction to postpone or cancel events that include populations from other schools and/or parents or other community members, such as Parent-Teacher Interviews, celebrations of learning, drama/musical performances, dances, athletic competitions, etc. This decision is effective from Mar. 12 until the end of March break. Good Afternoon Keeler Families, With the on going circumstances around COVID-19, the Calgary Board of Education has decided to release student report cards online through the MyCBE PowerSchool account. Paper copies will no longer be provided to families. We are reaching out to ensure that our families have created a MyCBE PowerSchool account so they can access their student’s report cards. If you have not created a PowerSchool account for your child please follow the instructions attached below or call the office at 403-777-8180 during office hours.
